Improving Operational Performance – Level 2
Target Audience – Those requiring an introduction to continuous improvement and associated tools and techniques
Duration – 12 Months
Content – Tools and Techniques such as Workplace Organisation (5C), Problem Solving (Root Cause Analysis), Visual Management, Process Mapping, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) Etc.
Apprentices will achieve a practical (or ‘competence’) qualification:
NVQ Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques Level 2
Apprentices will also achieve a theory-based (or ‘knowledge’) qualification:
Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques Level 2
Delivery – The qualification adopts a dual training and implementation approach targeting improvements within the lifetime of the training to achieve a financial return on investment of 10:1
Progression – Accreditation as an ISO18404 Lean Practitioner
Operations & Quality Improvement – L3
Target Audience – Those who are or wish to be responsible for delivery and coaching of improvement activity within an area of responsibility such as Business improvement Co-ordinator / Continuous Improvement Facilitator / Continuous Improvement Champion / Change Implementation Facilitator
Duration – 18 m
Content – Tools and Techniques such as Workplace Organisation (5C), Problem Solving (Root Cause Analysis), Visual Management, Process Mapping, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Basic Statistics, Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Apprentices will achieve a practical (or ‘competence’) qualification:

Apprentices will also achieve a theory-based (or ‘knowledge’) qualification:
Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques Level 3
Progression – Accreditation as an ISO18404 Lean Practitioner
Apprenticeship Standards
Construction Site Supervisor – L4
Target Audience – Both new and experienced Site Supervisors that are looking to improve the management and supervisory skills
Duration – 36 Months
Content – Supervision of specialist contractors, The control of health and safety standards on construction projects, Recording, control and reporting of progress on a construction project, The minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects, Control of quality of works on a construction project, Assisting commercial staff with the monitoring of costs on a construction project
Apprentices will achieve
A Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment that meets the knowledge requirements of the standard and is approved by the industry’s recognised professional bodies meeting the educational requirements for Technician status or the equivalent level of membership
Progression – Construction Management
Associate Project Manager – L4
Target Audience – All, people involved in the delivery of projects yet have little or no formal training in project delivery
Duration – 24 Months
Content – Includes but not limited to Project governance – Project stakeholder management – Project communication – Project leadership – Consolidated planning – Budgeting and cost control – Business case and benefits management – Project scope – Project schedule – Resource management – Project risk and issue management
Apprentices will achieve
Level 4 qualification and apprentices are required to achieve a suitable level of knowledge as part of their development such that they achieve an IPMA Level D qualification or APM Project Management Qualification, prior to their EPA.
Progression – Senior Project Manager
Team Leader / Supervisor – L3
Target Audience – All current and aspiring Team Leaders and Supervisors
Duration 12 – 18 Months
Content – Includes but is not limited to, Leading People, Managing People, Building Relationships, Communication, Project and Operational Management, Finance, Motivation, Problem Solving, Management Theory, Commercial Awareness
Apprentices will achieve
Level 3 qualification in Team Leading and Supervision confirmed at EPA
Progression – Site Manager
Improvement Technician – L3
Target Audience – All those responsible or who wish to become responsible for the delivery and coaching of improvement activity within an area of responsibility
Duration – 14 Months
Content – Includes, but not limited to, Compliance, Team formation & leadership, Self-development, Project management: Project charter, Gantt chart, reporting documentation, Red Amber Green (RAG) status, communication (verbal and non-verbal channels) and implementation plans, Change management, Lean principles, Project selection & scope, Problem definition, Process mapping & analysis, Data acquisition for analysis, Basic statistics & measures, Process capability & performance, Root cause analysis, Experimentation, Identification & prioritisation, Sustainability & control
Apprentices will achieve
Level 3 Qualification at EPA
Progression – ISO 18404 Lean Practitioner
